Tamil Nadu's Blue Mountain Railway is one of the world's steepest rack-and-pinion railways. Running from Chennai to Mettupalayam, the Nilgiri train crosses the scenic Blue Mountains. The route was established over a century ago and the cogwheel-driven Blue Mountain Express is now UNESCO World Heritage listed. We travel on the steam-hauled service to Coonoor.
